Established in 2004, DSEM started humbly as a semiconductor service provider specializing in product reliability testing. Many key learnings were observed in our reliability testing journey; thus, setting the  core competency platform to look for solutions to help mitigate the product reliability and product performance extraction efficiency dichotomy challenges.
 

Today, DSEM niches in thermal and optical engineering solution competencies to address the above dichotomy challenges for better product extraction efficiency in both LED and CPV applications.
 

1. DSEM's patented ALOX(TM) metal substrate has selective dielectric for optimum in-plane and through-plane thermal performance and design flexibility.
2. The traditional high flux LED luminaire requires a matrix of LED emitters mounted on a Printed Circuit Board; thus, at least three thermal interfaces from the LED die to the heat sink. DSEM's Chip-on-AMS enables high power LED array light sources without another Surface Mounting process step; thus, a cost effective solution.
3. DSEM's direct silicone-on-board encapsulation enables die protection and beam shaping for the LED array light source. The high flux topology allows efficient secondary optical design for further system integration.

The above solution is applicable to Concentrated Photo Voltaic receiver as well. CPV-on-AMS provides similar thermal performance and the AMS design allows bolt-down substrate to heat sink; thus enhancing thermal contact and field serviceability.

DSEM's value proposition is in the optimization of the design  to enable an integrated plug-n-play building block. Besides the material integration, DSEM's path-finding application division provides concurrently engineering at the system level so as to provide early feedbacks for continuous product design improvements.
